Help Wanted: NY State Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer

We are a family-owned funeral home in Central New York, handling an average of 230 + calls per year. We are seeking a professional, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to fulfill our full-time funeral director position. The candidate must have graduated from an accredited mortuary science school and successfully passed the national board and state exams. The position would require knowledge of all phases of funeral service, including removals, embalmings, arrangements with families and would require a rotating on-call night schedule, weekends and holidays.




  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum Associate Degree in Mortuary Science
  • Valid New York State funeral director license or the ability to reciprocate license from another state
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office – Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team


  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely, respectful, sensitive and professional manner
  • Connect with families through listening, honest communication and genuine concern
  • Develop an understanding of each family’s unique needs and offer solutions that provide value to them
  • Stay in touch with families to ensure satisfaction
  • Prepare for all appointments and perform all procedures with professionalism and attention to detail
  • Follow through on all family’s requests
