Updates to NY Military Funeral Honors Program
Last month, New York Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors program closed their Detachment 7 located in Horseheads. They will no longer receive Military Funeral Honor requests at that location. A Detachment has reopened in Binghamton, and the office is ready to accept Funeral Honor requests via email only.
The New York Army National Guard is committed to remaining a dependable and reliable Military Funeral Honor Program for the Veterans in the Previous Detachment 7’s Area of operations. They ask please send all Army Funeral Honor Request to their Detachments based on the county in which the Honors location resides. Please see the New York Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Offices Map for reference.
They are updating the Army Funeral Honor request procedures to include and encourage the use of directly emailing the Funeral Honor Request to their office detachment assigned mailboxes. When emailing Funeral Honors Request, please ensure the DMNA Form 86 is filled out and attached to the email with the Veterans Service Eligibility Documentation. Please see DMNA Form 86 for Detachment Mailboxes. They encourage the use of using this Subject line when Emailing:
MFH Request-Rank Name of Veteran-Honors Location-Time of Service-Date of Service
Example: MFH Request-PFC John Doe-Holy Sepulchre Cemetery-11:00-15 March 2023.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and service to our service members.
