New York State Funeral Directors Association

Jeff Jennings CFSP

Time is flying!  Here it is March and another message to you the members. I feel like I just did this, but time moves quickly as we know all too well.

Your Association staff and officers have been busy this past month. In February, the Chapter Model Task Force met to begin to formulate a foundation on how we may proceed with the creation of Chapters as the next step of local-state association relationships. It was a very intense, all-day meeting which provided some great ideas to present to you all at the Regional Meetings where you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and comments on how we proceed.

The Committee on Continuing Education/Convention also met and discussed the selected topics of education for our upcoming Convention in August at Turning Stone which is scheduled for

August 16-19, 2020.  So please save the date!  This will be yet another great opportunity to earn your CEU credits and enjoy the camaraderie of your colleagues. It is always a good time, and the Association consistently puts on an excellent program for all of us.

This month we will be having our quarterly FDSS and NYSFDA board meetings. These two days are filled with a lot of informative reports of the Association. As always, the officers and board members are continuing to look out for the betterment of the Association. It is a responsibility that is not taken lightly and our members are always in the forefront of our decisions and actions.  Because once more, this is your association and I, as your President, along with my fellow officers and board members thank you for the trust and confidence you have placed in us for overseeing this operation.

As a reminder, if you have not renewed your dues for 2020 please do so.  And for those that have, THANK YOU. I think we can all agree that you get the ‘bang for the buck’ when it comes to being a member of NYSFDA. From our executive director, staff and board members, you get the most for your dues. Everyone is always working for and looking out for your better interests and the future of funeral service in New York State.

As always, I close with our mission statement which in my opinion says it all, “To enhance the environment in which our members operate and to promote the highest standards of Funeral Service to the public “

Talk again next month
