New York State Funeral Directors Association

Jeff Jennings CFSP

Greetings to you All,

Well here we are at the halfway point of the year, and it certainly has been an unbelievable 6 months for all of us. I can only hope that as this virus flattens you are able to catch your breath and get some much-needed rest.

As your President, along with the rest of the Executive Board, I want to say how PROUD and GRATEFUL we are of all of you. You served Funeral Service well with your unwavering commitment to your families, communities, and profession during a very trying and stressful time. As I spoke with some of you or heard the stories of overwhelming case volume, it was apparent that you all stood tall and did the best you could. YOU ARE ALL NYSFDA STRONG!!!

The Association staff continues to care for all our needs and hopefully we will have them all back at the office soon. But rest assured Mike and the staff are on top of all the day-to-day operations and things are running smoothly and efficiently. We are very fortunate to have his leadership and the staff that we do. A GREAT TEAM effort.

You might know by now that Convention has been postponed until October 11-14 at Turning Stone Casino-the original venue. We are hopeful that by October all will be back to “normal,” or as close to it as possible. We will certainly keep you updated on any changes that might come along. With that, remember our renewal of registrations and CEU qualification has been pushed back by the DOH and Bureau of Funeral Directing from the June 30 deadline. The deadline is now October 29, 2020.

We have pushed back our quarterly board meetings to the end of June with the hope of being able to meet in person, but if not, virtually. So next month I will be able to update you on all the happenings of NYSFDA, FDSS, Tribute, PrePlan and DCCU. Certainly, if you have any questions regarding the Association, please feel free to contact myself or Mike Lanotte. We welcome the opportunity to address your concerns or questions, after all this is your association.

As I close, again I give you my thanks and admiration for all that you do and as always “To enhance the environment in which our members operate and promote the highest standards of Funeral Service to the public.” For we are NYSFDA STRONG.

Be well and be safe,
Rich Sullivan
